...New AVIATION...
.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Saturday)
Issued at 247 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
A weak front north of the area will continue to drift south this
morning and should get into at least the northern parts of our
area shifting winds to the east or northeast, but other than that,
the front will not be very noticeable as it will not come with
any rain chance, and temperatures will not be much cooler than
they have been. Dewpoints could fall just a bit, but not
significantly. Ahead of the front, expect patchy fog to develop
this morning in the Coastal Plains and eastern Brush Country. High
temperatures this afternoon will range from the low and mid 90s
west to the lower 80s along the coast.
As the boundary dissipates and southeasterly winds return this
afternoon, low level moisture will once again allow for the
development of fog overnight with low temperatures in the 50s and
lower 60s. Expect high temperatures a few degrees warmer tomorrow.
We`ll also see a return to some moderate wind gusts which may
result in an elevated fire risk in the Rio Grande plains where RH
values drop below 30 percent. A backdoor cold front tries to
approach from the northeast through the day Saturday, but most
likely doesn`t make it into the region...if it does, it washes out
pretty quickly.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through next Thursday)
Issued at 247 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Key Messages:
- Elevated to critical fire weather conditions through next week
- Above normal temperatures will persist through the long term.
As we talked about last night, Saturday night into Sunday We
continue the south to southwest gradient wind which pulls the hot,
dry air off the Sierra Madre into the Rio Grande Plains. This air
mass continues, Sunday, over the Rio Grande Plains and the western
half of the Brush Country, and begins to push east into the Coastal
Plains, which will continue into Monday. The 500 mb ridge sits over
South Texas, Sunday and Monday, so highs are expected to push to
near 100 west of SH-16, with a 60-80% chance of breaking 100 on
Monday. Monday night, a cold front that pushes south, but only looks
to only approach South Texas. Some models suggest that it could get
to Victoria before moving back north again, while most solutions are
suggesting that it sags into South Central and Southeast Texas and
then moves north and east out of the state. In either case, the sfc
high does bring a little "cooler" air (mid 90s in the west vs near
100) for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday temperatures rise back
above 95in the western Brush country again as another upper ridge
moves over the Southern Plains. Friday, highs remain near 100 in
the Rio Grande Plains, with lower 80s along the Coastal Bend.
Although, models hint at a late day or Friday night cold front
moving neat South Texas again. The pattern is beginning to look like
our cold fronts are going to stall north through the next week or
so.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 628 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
As expected, fog is impacting ALI and VCT TAF sites early this
morning with IFR to LIFR Vis and CIGS. This conditions will
persist through the next 2-3 hours with VFR conditions by mid-
morning. VFR conditions persist through the rest of the day and
into tonight with another round of fog and low CIGS possible for
ALI and VCT toward Saturday morning. CRP isn`t immune from the fog
potential but it is much lower and have not included in the TAF
forecast.

.MARINE...
Issued at 247 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Expect a light and variable winds today as a weak boundary drifts
toward the area. Onshore flow will redevelop tonight into Saturday
at mainly light to gentle levels. A tightening pressure gradient
will result in increasing onshore winds becoming a gentle to
moderate breeze (BF 3-4) Saturday night and becoming a moderate to
fresh breeze (BF 4-5) by Sunday which will continue into Monday.
Winds will diminish to a gentle to moderate breeze (BF 3-4) Monday
night, and will continue through the rest of next week.
