Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Nashville TN
1056 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...
.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 1037 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
- Advisory level river flooding is hanging tough at Dover and
Clifton, but levels are gradually falling from earlier this week.
- Showers, maybe a rumble of thunder today. Small hail possible.
No severe expected.
- Great weekend ahead.
&&
.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Saturday)
Issued at 1037 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Cloudy skies continue across the area as an upper level impulse
rounds the base of the trough. There could be some showers with
this impulse and maybe a rumble or two of thunder. No severe
weather expected. Rain moves out by sunset. A great weekend can be
expected. Winds stay northerly tomorrow but sun will return with
highs in the middle to upper 50s for the Plateau and lower 60s
elsewhere.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Saturday Night through next Friday)
Issued at 1037 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
High pressure builds in on Sunday. Winds turn southerly and
temperatures begin to rise. By Monday highs will be approaching 80
in some locations. The next chance for showers and thunderstorms
comes Monday night when an upper level low moves across the Great
Lakes region. Not expecting anything in the way of severe right
now...however there is a 15% to the north over Northern
KY...Ohio...West Virgina. We will keep watching this...but the
strength of the low and cold front and timing is not great. Maybe
a strong storm.
After Monday night tranquil weather until Friday or so. There are
some model differences in strength and timing for another low
coming out of the upper midwest. The GFS is a bit stronger at this
time and takes the system a bit further south than the ECMWF.
There are still several days to work out these details.
Rain amounts for both systems are minimal. A few hundredths up to
a quarter of an inch.
&&
.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 615 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
VFR conditions prevail at forecast time, but MVFR to IFR cigs will
arrive around 14Z as a weak impulse moves south through the area.
This impulse will produce scattered showers and isolated thunder
today, mainly from 17Z-22Z. Winds will become north with passage
of the disturbance, gusting to 20KT at times.
