Surface observations as of 1 AM show a strong cold front that has
pushed just south of the Red River. Northerly winds in the wake
of the frontal passage are expected to be gusty (25-30 mph) for
most of the day. The much colder air will lag behind the frontal
passage initially. Gusty winds out of the north will keep
temperatures cold, but the really cold air won`t make its way into
the area until Saturday afternoon and evening. That being said,
highs on Saturday will be near freezing across the northern half
of the area, and into the 40s across the southern half.

There does appear to be a signal for light snow across the
northern half of Oklahoma today. Any accumulations will be light
and no impacts are expected. After sunset, temperatures will
continue to drop as sustained northerly winds of 10-15 mph persist
through the night. The continuous cold air advection will bring
overnight lows into the teens for most locations, and single
digits across portions of northern Oklahoma.

.SHORT TERM...
(Sunday through Monday night)

Given the persistent cold air advection, Sunday afternoon highs
will only get up to the 20s by the afternoon. A surface high will
continue to build across the northern and central Plains,
eventually creeping into northern Oklahoma. In response, surface
winds will relax and veer towards the south by late Sunday night.

Residual cold air on Monday morning will help lows get down into
the low teens. Veering of the surface winds will not last too long
before another cold front pushes into the area Monday ahead of
the next system. Afternoon highs will once again only get into the
20s across the entire area. This cold front, however, will bring
snow chances across western and northwestern Oklahoma Monday.
Synoptic forcing appears to be weak, so overall probabilities of 1
inch of snowfall is 40-60% across western and northwestern
Oklahoma. In addition to snow chances, this cold front will bring
another shot of colder air across the area, with overnight lows in
the single digits across the northern third of the area, and low
teens elsewhere. Wind chills during this timeframe are expected to
be below 0F in northwestern Oklahoma and single digits across the
rest of the area.

A brief warm up is expected as surface winds turn back around to
the south by mid week. Models suggest another system later in the
week, which will bring another cold front back through the area.
Overall strength of this front is still uncertain. Dry conditions
are expected through the end of the week.

Unrestricted ceilings and visibilities will continue.

A cold front/northerly wind shift has moved through all the
terminals except KDUA, which should occur within the hour. Gusty
northerly winds will continue through the TAF period.

Scattered to broken mid to high level clouds are expected--
especially across northern Oklahoma. There is also a chance of
light snow/flurries across the northern half two thirds of
Oklahoma late Saturday morning through the early evening. The
probability of snow is too low to include in the TAFs at this
time.
