Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
345 AM EDT Sat May 24 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
Mostly dry and cool conditions will remain in place through the
weekend. More widespread rain chances will return on Tuesday while
below average temperatures persist into next week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
West to northwest flow will continue aloft through the day as weak
high pressure remains in place across our area at the surface. This
will likely allow for some mid and high level clouds to stream in
from the northwest at times today. Temperatures will remain several
degrees below normal with afternoon highs mostly in the mid to upper
60s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SUNDAY/...
Surface high pressure will remain centered over the Great Lakes
with a weak ridge axis extending down into the mid Ohio Valley
tonight into Sunday. Meanwhile, the flow aloft will become a bit
more zonal as a mid level short wave drops down across the southern
Great Lakes. This will allow for an increase in mainly mid level
moisture through the day on Sunday. As the mid levels moisten up, we
may eventually see a few sprinkles or light rain showers develop
through Sunday afternoon. The best chance for this will be across our
southern areas where we will include a low end 20 pop.

Temperatures will remain seasonably cool with lows tonight in the 45
to 50 degree range and highs on Sunday in the mid to possibly upper
60s.

&&

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Below to near normal temperatures will be present during the long
term with the coolest night expected to be Sunday night with lows
across most locations in the 40s. Low temperatures much of the
remainder of the long term will be in the 50s to around 60. High
temperatures are expected to be in the 60s and 70s.

The wet weather pattern will continue through much of the long term.
While Sunday night and Monday are expected to be dry, precipitation
chances will return Monday night through Tuesday night as a low
pressure system brings moisture back into the region. At this time
this looks to be the most widespread precipitation for the week.

While there is some variability in the models, several additional
systems are expected to keep precipitation chances in the forecast
each day through the end of the long term on Friday.

There is some instability at times during the long term and
therefore timed in thunderstorm chances for time frames where there
was a better potential

&&

.AVIATION /07Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
West to northwest flow will continue aloft through tonight. Some
high and mid clouds will be possible at times but outside of some
possible brief river valley fog toward daybreak, VFR conditions will
prevail through the TAF period.

OUTLOOK...MVFR to IFR ceilings and visibilities are likely Tuesday
into Wednesday.
