.DISCUSSION...
(This afternoon through next Monday)
Issued at 128 PM PDT Mon Jun 23 2025
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: A mix of sun and clouds have developed
during the early afternoon hours across northern and central
Nevada. A weak upper trough is situated across the southwestern
United States. For tonight, look for skies to become mostly clear
with low temperatures in the 40s to maybe the low 50s.
The aforementioned upper low will have limited moisture to work
with on Tuesday. Even so, current model runs are depicting CAPE
values of about 200 to 400 J/kg is expected across portions of
Elko county tomorrow afternoon. In addition, lifted indices will
be slightly negative with storm motions of five knots or less.
These will result in a mix of isolated wet and dry thunderstorms
for Tuesday afternoon. Best chances for activity will be in the
Jarbidge wilderness near the Idaho border. Outflow winds to 35 mph
are possible with any storm. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s.
Look for quieter conditions during the overnight with lows in the
40s and 50s.
The upper trough will shift off to the east, with a general west
to east flow setting up. The weather is expected to be quiet with
high confidence is a warming trend. Afternoon high temperatures
are expected through the upcoming week. Highs will be in the 80s
on Wednesday, rising to the 80s and 90s by the weekend. Overnight
lows will be in the 40s and 50s through the weekend. Winds will
also become breezy to windy in the latter portions of the week
with gusts to 35 mph.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
High forecast confidence in regard to the warming trend through
the week. Forecast confidence more moderate on a mix of wet/dry
convection tomorrow afternoon. PWAT values progged to be
borderline also adds to the uncertainty of dry convection Tuesday.

A fairly quiet weather pattern in the early week with the exception of isolated
dry thunderstorms for northern portions of zones 438/469/470. Afternoon relative
humidity values will dry out to below 15% for all zones under sunny, dry weather
though winds speeds will remain below fire weather criteria through mid week.
A gradual warming trend through the week will lead to hot afternoon highs by
