National Weather Service New Orleans LA
630 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
...New AVIATION...
.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Saturday)
Issued at 343 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
A cold front is expected to continue sliding south through our
area today, looking to be pushed through land areas by mid to late
morning. Thought about adding in some sprinkles potential for
northern areas, but decided against it as the main window would be
right around now and radar is looking clear. Additionally while
some light fog potential isn`t completely out of the question
with a couple models showing it, it does seem that potential has
lowered as well. Outside of that, afternoon high temperatures
today will be just a touch, a couple degrees, cooler than
yesterday. Winds will increase out of the north this afternoon
following the cold front, with peak gusts around 20 to 25mph.
While temperatures this morning are closer to climate norms, early
Saturday morning will see MinT`s a good 5 degrees below average
for this time of year. Saturday will also see cooler MaxT`s, low
to mid 70s for all, with the cooler air from the front. Friday`s
front also brings some dry air with it giving us a very
comfortable feel outside Saturday!

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through Thursday)
Issued at 343 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Heading into the long term period, we will see below average
morning temperatures for likely one more morning Sunday before
returning to normal temps for this time of year. At the surface,
high pressure builds down into the area lasting through early week
which helps bring winds back down.
High pressure will start to slide east later Monday and through
Tuesday as another front makes its approach. This does introduce
some moisture back into the region as winds increase slightly out
of the south. Similarly with today`s front, globals are not really
showing much in terms of precipitation with Tuesday`s front.
While it doesn`t look like we will see a huge change in afternoon
highs, we will again see slightly cooler morning temperatures and
more importantly the return of drier air. I think most would agree
that these fronts that bring no rain and bring more comfortable
conditions outside are welcome to keep coming!

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 629 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
VFR conditions expected through the forecast period. Winds will
pick up out of the northwest later this morning following the cold
front. Gusts will likely frequent 15-20kts. Winds die back down
heading into the evening hours.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 343 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
We will see an increase in winds out of the north today as a cold
front passes through the area. Around midday winds are expected to
be around exercise caution criteria, in the 15 to 20kts range,
lasting through the afternoon. By the later evening hours winds
increase to right around small craft criteria, just above 20kts,
lasting through early Saturday morning. Winds then come back down
by late morning Saturday and remain light through early next week.
