.SYNOPSIS...

A warming trend continues today and Wednesday as high pressure moves
across the region. Unsettled conditions return second-half of this
week through the upcoming weekend, with near-normal temperatures.
Although it won`t be raining the entire forecast period, there are
several chances at showers or thunderstorm starting Thursday morning
and continuing into the weekend. Temperatures during that time will
be near-normal.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...

Key Messages:

* Sunny and dry with warmer than normal temperatures.

High pressure dominates the sensible weather today and into mid week
as the center of the high sinks south of SNE while the mid level
ridge axis moves over New York. This results in subsidence clear
skies today with no chances for rain. Winds will be light given lack
of any significant pressure gradient so expect sea breezes to set up
along the coasts. This will keep the immediate coasts several
degrees cooler, in the low 70s, while further inland 850 mb temps
increasing from 6C to 9C over 24 hours will mean high temperatures
well into the upper 70s. This is quite a bit warmer than average for
late May. Overnight, high pressure remains but while little to no
wind is expected, we will see high clouds moving in, thickening and
lowering with time so no radiational cooling expected. Increasing
dewpoints will limit low temps to the low to mid 50s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...

Key Messages:

* Warmer than average temps continue with dry weather.

Wednesday surface high pressure remains overhead while the mid level
ridge axis crosses the region. Thus, a persistence forecast from a
POPs standpoint, with essentially no rain chances expected during
the daylight hours. However, a warm front lifting north will
increase dewpoints ahead of a late week system, so expect a mostly
cloudy day. The airmass overhead cools a bit and with the extra
cloud cover, expect highs still above normal, but a few degrees
cooler than Tuesday.

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...

Key Messages:

* Unsettled weather with rain chances returning Thursday through the
upcoming weekend. But do anticipate periods of dry conditions.

* Near-normal temperatures through the forecast period, with the
warmer of the days possibly Friday.

Unsettled conditions return for the second-half of the week, which
may linger into the upcoming weekend. High pressure moves east of
the region and mid-level ridging deamplifies and mid-level heights
lower. Come late week, a deepening trough approaches from the west and
there are signs it becomes a cut-off low in time for the weekend and
could linger into Sunday/Monday timeframe. That said, there are
unknowns when it comes to the exact position and overall timing.

Rain chances will increase late Wednesday night into early Thursday
with a warm front lifting across southern New England. The 00z/26
run of the NAM 3KM and 12km are showing shower activity spreading
from southwest to northeast during the predawn hours Thursday and
moving out early to mid-afternoon. There after the trailing cold
front moves across the region on Friday, which is shown more in the
cooling temperatures at 850mb. Perhaps a few showers or thunderstorm
with the passage of the front on Friday. At this time, not looking
at severe, CSU Machine-Learning doesn`t show any chance for severe,
but CIPS analog shows less than 10% probability for severe weather
mainly across interior southern New England. Given the amount of
outdoor events this time of year, something to monitor.

Those seeking a rain-free weekend, don`t come after the messenger.
There are rain chances through this weekend, but exact details are
unknown due to spread in guidance. As mentioned above, the mid-level
pattern trends towards a cut-off low across the northeast CONUS and
a southern stream shortwave emerges off the coast with associated
area of low pressure late Friday night or early Saturday. Something
will need to monitor heading into this weekend, but would appear the
better chance for any soaking rain would be Saturday, then drier on
Sunday. Still many days away and pounds of time for changes.

As for temperatures, Thursday is a bit cooler with the anticipated
periods of rain, highs are generally in the middle to upper 60s.
Friday is slightly warmer with mix of sun and clouds with highs in
the middle 70s. Heading into this weekend, guidance deviates in
terms of 850mb temperatures. Likely part of that will depends on the
placement of the cold pool this weekend, if the mid-level trough
closes off completely and is positioned overhead. For now, highs in
the upper 60s to low 70s for the coming weekend. For nightly lows,
there those hold steady in the lower 50s.

.MARINE...

Forecaster Confidence Levels:

Low - less than 30 percent.
Medium - 30 to 60 percent.
High - greater than 60 percent.

High confidence in the forecast.

High pressure builds in from the west and across southern New
England today and then offshore by Wednesday, resulting in
light winds trending south/southwest later Tuesday and
Wednesday. Given the winds remaining below 15kt for the next
couple of days, wave and sea conditions will be rather minimal.
No need for any marine hazard headlines.
