...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Tuesday night)
Issued at 315 AM CST Sun Nov 24 2024

Early morning sfc analysis shows high pressure centered over the
sern CONUS and ridging wwd across the forecast area. Water vapor
imagery shows our recent nwrly flow aloft now transitioning to a
more zonal flow with a series of mostly weak disturbances noted
upstream. GOES IR imagery indicates clear skies across the region.
Sfc obs depict generally seasonal conditions ongoing with temps
mostly ranging from the mid 40s to the lower 50s. Regional 88Ds are
PPINE.

Still looking at a dry rest of the weekend as the sfc high holds
on and a more zonal flow takes over aloft. Our ongoing warm up on
srly low-level winds looks to take over in earnest today with
highs expected in the mid/upper 70s. Lows tonight are progged to
only drop to the lower/mid 60s (possibly some upper 50s across the
nern zones)...not far off from our normal highs this time of
year.

By Monday, a deepening trof crossing the center of the country will
help push a sfc frontal boundary towards the region, with this
feature set to cross the area Monday night. Pre-frontal moisture
return looks to be generally confined to the lower levels, and
with best lift progged to remain well to our north, rain chances
remain on the low side and confined to generally just our LA zones
on Monday night. After Monday highs climb further to run around 80
degrees, cooler air ushered in by the frontal passage should lead
to mins inching back toward late November norms, especially for
the nwrn 1/2 of the forecast area.

With drier air expected to encroach behind the departing trof
axis/front and reasonable low-level CAA developing, Tuesday looks
to be a mostly sunny and temperate day with seasonal highs.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday through Sunday)
Issued at 315 AM CST Sun Nov 24 2024

The extended will begin with high pressure quickly moving east
across the mid Mississippi Valley. This will begin a return flow
by Wednesday, with dry and mild weather is anticipated, however
moisture and temperatures will gradually increase into Thanksgiving.
Low pressure will move into Texas by late Wednesday with
potentially a streamer shower possible by late in the day. The low
will trek east across North LA or South AR early Thursday with
the associated cold front expected to move across the local area
during mid day to afternoon. Thunderstorms are anticipated during
Thanksgiving, however chances of severe weather look low for now,
but not zero.

Cool and dry weather will return beyond Thursday and into the
weekend.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 600 AM CST Sun Nov 24 2024

Overnight satellite imagery indicates that VFR-level low cloud
cover was beginning to stream ashore from the Gulf, and based on
latest forecast soundings/time-height sections, expect this cloud
cover to continue to develop/raise over primarily the srn
terminals through the day today. Otherwise, the main issue looks
to be the elevated srly winds developing as lower pressure
develops over the Plains...expect winds to exceed 10 knots with
gusts to aoa 20 knots by afternoon, diminishing with sunset.
Because of these non-calm winds, not expecting much, if any, fog
development tonight.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 315 AM CST Sun Nov 24 2024

Somewhat elevated srly winds are forecast to develop today and
continue into Monday with high pressure now to our east and lower
pressures developing over the Rockies/srn Plains...these winds are
expected to shift nrly and diminish with the frontal passage
Monday night. The best chance for headlines on the CWF look to
come for Thursday with the passage of a stronger cold front.
