continuing off and on through Friday.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 1247 PM MDT Tue May 13 2025
Upper level low continues to propagate east through southern
Idaho tonight and expect showers to continue overnight and
through the day on Wednesday as get on the backside of the low
with wrap around moisture. 50 percent chances of between 0.20
and 0.40 inches in the Snake River Plain and 0.30 and 0.80 in
the eastern and southern mountains with 0.10 in the central
mountains as think heaviest precipitation chances will focus
further east overnight through Wednesday night. Think snow
levels generally remaining in the 7 thousand foot to 8500 foot
level through Wednesday night and any accumulations above 7
thousand feet with any significant amounts likely well above 8
thousand feet. May see localized 6 inches plus at those levels.
Lows tonight in the 20s to 30s mountains and upper 30s to lower
40s valleys. Highs Wednesday in the 40s to lower 50s mountains
and 50s valleys. Lows Wednesday night again in the 20s to mid
30s mountains and 30s to lower 40s valleys.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Issued at 1247 PM MDT Tue May 13 2025
This period starts with weak upper level troughing
either just upstream or overhead, with below normal 500mb heights.
By Sat night, a more organized and deeper trough slides through the
northern Rockies. This is true for all clusters. On Sun, the
intensity of this upper level low and the movement starts to
diverge, with a slight edge to the trough staying over the northern
Rockies, while a large minority have the low digging southward to
the Las Vegas area. Either way, it should be cold, with both cases
leading to precipitation threats, albeit higher in the majority
case. The departure of this low may happen Mon or Tue, but this
solution is not a majority in the clusters for either day.
Afternoon highs should be below normal for the period, with the
coldest day on Sun with the low at its closest. It should also
remain breezy to windy with the strongest wind after the low has
passed to the east at the end of this period. Fri is the driest day,
prior to the low`s arrival.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 1047 AM MDT Tue May 13 2025
SHRA have been enough to generate some variable wind and some
marginal VFR conditions for CIG as they pass through. This will
have a break for the airports during the late afternoon and
evening hours. The next feature pushes through around 14/10Z,
bringing showers that once again should cause some variable and
gusty wind and marginal VFR conditions for CIG and possibly
VSBY. Wind will stay gusty for KBYI, while KSUN and KDIJ should
see less wind thanks to the sheltering, although for KSUN that
changes during the day on Wed. KDIJ may see a SHRASN mix right
around opening. The nature of the showery conditions means some
PROB30 groups, although there are times where it gets more
likely to categorical, especially for KIDA and KDIJ.
