Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pocatello ID
1255 PM MDT Sat Jun 7 2025

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Warming trend continues through the weekend with a return to
  the 90s for some by Monday.

- Expected to remain dry through the weekend with no rain
  chances until at least Tuesday.

&&

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 1227 PM MDT Sat Jun 7 2025

No impacts in the short term period with upper level ridge
pushing east with mainly clear skies and warming temperatures
through Sunday. Lows tonight in the 40s mountains and 50s
valleys. Highs Sunday in the 70s mountains to 80s valleys and
lows Sunday night in the 40s and 50s once again. No wind
impacts expected.

&&

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Issued at 1227 PM MDT Sat Jun 7 2025

Monday through Saturday. Upper ridge peaks on Monday, with very warm
temperatures continuing into Tuesday. Deterministic NBM still
running below 50th percentile, so continued prior trends of nudging
temperatures up slightly through the early part of the extended.
Ridge begins to weaken Tuesday ahead of developing Pacific trough.
East Idaho could see the beginnings of an unsettled pattern by
Tuesday, but more likely Wednesday as a stronger shortwave ejects
across the region. From there on, weak features look to provide a
threat of at least isolated afternoon/evening thunderstorms each
day. Daytime highs weaken slightly through the week with the
expected moisture incursion, but remain above normal throughout the
period.

&&

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 1120 AM MDT Sat Jun 7 2025

Expect VFR conditions to continue as high pressure remains in place.
A few mid to high clouds will be possible this afternoon and
evening, clearing out again overnight. Afternoon gusts up to 20kts
will be possible, mainly for BYI/PIH/IDA, otherwise light terrain
driven wind patterns are expected.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 133 AM MDT Sat Jun 7 2025

A dry weather pattern remains in place through the weekend as high
pressure builds over the area. This will send temperatures
continuing upward through the weekend and into early next week with
no precipitation forecast through the day Monday. On Tuesday, it
appears the ridge will begin to break down and this is when daily
shower/storm chances look to return to eastern Idaho and continue
through the remainder of next week. The warm temperatures over the
weekend will allow for afternoon RHs to drop to around 15-25 percent
each day helping to dry things out across the region.

&&

.PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
None.
