...New AVIATION, MARINE...

.NEAR TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 321 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

The main weather concern this morning will be dense fog. Highest
confidence is in the Southeast FL Big Bend, where a Dense Fog
Advisory continues for visibility 1/4 mile or less. As of 2 AM
CST, patchy dense fog has developed in Bay and Calhoun Counties.
Guidance indicates dense fog may expand into much of the FL
Counties into portions of Southwest Georgia, but this will be
dependent on the extent of mid and high-level cloudiness, which
continues to stream across the region per latest satellite
imagery. The forecast already mentions fog, and if dense fog
becomes more widespread, then additional advisories will be
issued this morning. Fog should dissipate by 10 AM ET/9 AM CT,
leaving behind a partly sunny sky through this afternoon, with
highs reaching the mid 70s.

Warm air advection across the area tonight with lows only in the
50s. The warm, moist air atop the cold shelf waters in the 50s
will likely result in some sea fog spreading over the FL Big
Bend and coastal Panhandle after sunset and particularly after
midnight, expanding northward into portions of Southeast AL and
Southwest GA. Confidence in fog is highest generally west of an
Albany-Tallahassee line. For now, kept fog mentions to patchy
in the forecast, as elevated winds favor it being more scattered
and would tend to discourage widespread dense fog.

.SHORT TERM...
(Friday through Saturday night)
Issued at 321 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

Thursday afternoon into Friday we`ll see return flow continuing to
pump warm moist air across the region with dew points climbing into
the mid 60s on Friday. This WAA is occurring ahead of our next
frontal system. Normally this moisture-rich air would lead us to
some good chances for severe weather, but the shortwave associated
with this cold front will be deamplifying as it moves across eastern
CONUS. Forcing for ascent quickly fizzles out across the southeast
throughout Friday, with forcing being displaced to our north across
the Mid-Atlantic states. This will result in a broken line of
showers and possibly some thunderstorms where localized diurnal
instability is maximized. Guidance has MLCAPE strictly confined to
the front itself, thus temporally-speaking it`s not expected to rain
all day. Rain will be associated with the front and will end once
the front moves through.

All activity is expected to be over with Friday night before sunrise
on Saturday. High pressure and lower dew points will prevail as a
pleasant extended period begins to take shape.

Expect daytime highs generally in the mid to upper 70s with
overnight lows generally in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday through Wednesday)
Issued at 321 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

Zonal flow aloft and surface high pressure across the western
Atlantic into the eastern Gulf will allow for large scale subsidence
and benign weather conditions to persist. Expect skies to generally
be mostly sunny each day. With dew points at or below 60 degrees,
it`ll be a pleasant extended period.

Expect daytime highs generally in the mid 70s to low 80s, with
overnight lows generally in the mid 40s Sunday morning rising into
the mid 50s by Wednesday morning.

&&

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 625 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

Restrictions to IFR/LIFR this morning in fog/low clouds at all TAF
sites. VFR conditions are expected to return to all sites by late
morning. Another round of restrictions are expected tonight, mainly
at DHN and ECP. Confidence was high enough to include fog and low
clouds at these sites, with the potential for IFR/LIFR at ECP after
00z and MVFR at DHN after 08z. In addition, sufficient confidence
to include Low-Level Wind Shear (LLWS) at ABY after 06z, and LLWS
cannot be ruled out at the other terminals as well tonight.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 625 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

Two areas of dense fog restricting visibility one Nautical Mile
or less are moving over the nearshore waters, one to the east of
the Ochlockonee River and another west of Apalachicola. Expect
dense fog to continue over these areas until 10 AM ET/9 AM CT,
with the possibility that the advisory may need to be extended.

Light to moderate winds today out of the east-southeast. Winds will
begin to increase to cautionary levels tonight into Friday ahead of
an approaching cold front. Some advisory-level winds are possible,
especially in the southwestern offshore waters. Seas will build to 3
to 6 feet Friday. Showers and few storms will be possible, but will
decrease in coverage and intensity over the eastern waters Friday
night. Then behind the front, winds will become northerly and
decrease heading into the weekend.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 321 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

A dry day is on tap with minimum afternoon RH values in the 30s in
Southwest GA, with values mainly in the 40s and 50s in the AL/FL
Counties. Moderate dispersions are expected with southeast
breezes. A cold front approaches on Friday and moves through the
region on Friday night with showers and embedded thunderstorms
overspreading the region. Thunderstorms may produce gusty, erratic
winds, especially west of an Albany-Tallahassee line Friday
morning and afternoon. Strong southwest transport winds could also
lead to pockets of high dispersion, although widespread high
dispersions are not currently expected.

&&

.HYDROLOGY...
Issued at 321 AM EST Thu Jan 30 2025

Rainfall amounts will generally be around a half inch or less
through the next week. There are currently no flooding concerns.
