Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL
233 AM EST Fri Feb 7 2025
...New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, MARINE, FIRE WEATHER...
.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 144 AM EST Fri Feb 7 2025
Quasi-zonal U/L flow persists across the CONUS with an U/L ridge
over the Gulf and Florida. An U/L trough will gradually develop
across the western U.S. over the weekend and into early next
week. This will suppress the U/L ridge a bit, but it will continue
to hold over the Florida peninsula through the middle of next
week.
At the surface, a high pressure ridge axis extends across the
central Florida peninsula. Weak boundary layer flow is present
with warm moist air riding over the relatively cooler waters of
the eastern Gulf. This is creating sea fog over the coastal
waters, while radiation fog has developed across the nature coast.
The fog is locally dense, and a dense fog advisory is in effect
until 10 AM. The areal coverage of dense fog will likely expand
during the next several hours with additional counties needed to
be added to the advisory.
The area of high pressure will hold over the area through the
weekend and into the middle of next week. Mostly sunny days and
mostly clear nights will persist each day, with overnight/early
morning fog, which will be locally dense, each night. Temperatures
will continue to run well above normal through the forecast
period.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 144 AM EST Fri Feb 7 2025
Areas of fog will continue through the early morning hours with
MVFR VSBYs. Locally dense fog will also occur with IFR CIGs/VSBYs,
with the best chance of impacting PIE/PGD, and possibly TPA for
several hours. The fog will lift by mid morning with VFR
conditions expected the remainder of the day under mostly sunny
skies.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 144 AM EST Fri Feb 7 2025
High pressure and relatively benign conditions are expected into
early next week. The main hazard will be locally dense fog which
will primarily occur over the northern/central waters during the
overnight and morning hours.
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 144 AM EST Fri Feb 7 2025
No fire weather hazards are expected as sufficient moisture will
keep minimum afternoon relative humidity values above critical
levels.
