.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Friday)
Issued at 1219 PM EST Thu Feb 6 2025
Latest Sfc analyses and model ensembles depict a rather complex
weather pattern dominating the eastern half of the CONUS.
Fortunately for SoFlo, a solid ridge remains in place over the E
Gulf and the Florida peninsula, along with mid-level ridging
remaining across W Caribbean. The air mass over the state will be
dominated by subsidence and atmospheric stability. This synoptic
setup will keep mainly a mostly dry weather pattern in place for
the short term with prevailing light E/SE winds. Flow may become
calm at times, especially during the overnight hours.
Forecast dewpoints remain in the upper 60s/lower 70s, which will
help in having warm afternoon highs in the low-mid 80s. A weak
sea breeze may help in keeping highs near the E coast around 80.
High res and GFS families still keep enough low-level moisture
in place for some possible patchy fog to develop tonight into
Friday morning, especially over interior areas of SoFlo.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 211 PM EST Thu Feb 6 2025
Global models remain in fair agreement for the expected long
term forecast scenario with persisting ridging across the west
Atlantic and into the peninsula through the early part of next
week. The ridge will remain strong enough to keep blocking any
frontal boundaries that could push southward across the SE
CONUS into the state. Therefore, mainly dry conditions are
expected to continue through the first half of next week with
prevailing light to moderate east wind across the area.
Temperatures should remain warmer than normal, with
the easterly flow keeping the highest values over the western
half of SoFlo. Afternoon highs will hit the low-mid 80s over most
areas, along with heat index values up to around 90 late this
weekend. Lows will be in the 60s over most areas each night,
except around 70 east coast metro areas.
&&
.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 110 AM EST Fri Feb 7 2025
VFR expected to prevail during the next 24 hours, except possible
periods of sub-VFR low cigs/fog at TMB and APF through around
15Z. Light and variable flow will become ESE around 8-10kt, except
for a westerly wind at APF with afternoon sea breezes.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 1219 PM EST Thu Feb 6 2025
Generally east to southeast winds will prevail through the
weekend with high pressure dominating the area. Seas over the
Atlantic and Gulf marine zones will remain generally benign with
heights around 1 to 2 feet. Sea fog may return over the Gulf
waters overnight and into Friday morning, but chances remain low.
&&
.BEACHES...
Issued at 1219 PM EST Thu Feb 6 2025
There will be a moderate risk of rip currents for the Atlantic
Coast beaches today. This risk is expected to drop to a low risk
for Friday and this the weekend.
