.Updated AVIATION Discussion...

&&

.AVIATION...18/18Z TAFS...A deep marine layer will continue to
impact interior west side valleys into the early afternoon hours
today. Conditions are generally MVFR in the Umpqua Basin and
Illinois Valley, with LIFR conditions in the Rogue Valley. Expect
some clearing for most of these areas by around 21-23z, with lower
confidence for the Umpqua Basin based on recent trends. Improved
conditions should last for a least a few hours before returning to
LIFR conditions around or shortly after sunset. Outside of west side
valleys, VFR conditions will continue through the TAF period.

With minimal change in the upper level pattern expected through the
weekend, expect a daily repeat of similar conditions/timing. /BR-y

.PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 840 AM PST Sat Jan 18 2025/

DISCUSSION...Satellite image shows low clouds and patchy to areas
of fog and freezing fog in the Umpqua Basin, Illinois Valley,
Grants Pass area and Rogue Valley. Like yesterday. the low clouds
and fog are expected to persist through the morning, followed by
a gradual burn off in the afternoon. A few adjustments were made
to the forecast today to reflect the above. The rest of the
forecast is on track and no other changes are needed.

No much change in the pattern is expected for the next several
days with the weather from one day to the next not varying much.
-Petrucelli

MARINE...Updated 830 AM Saturday, January 18, 2025...Varying
strength in a thermal along the coast will keep moderate north
winds and steep seas over the waters south of Cape Blanco at times
this weekend. Conditions will be hazardous to small craft today,
especially beyond 10 nm from shore. Winds ease a bit tonight, but
may increase again Sunday afternoon and night resulting in steep
seas. Winds do weaken enough Monday into Tuesday for conditions to
fall below advisory levels and remain that way through Thursday.
Another period of moderate to strong north winds and steep seas is
possible Friday into next weekend. -Spilde
