.SYNOPSIS...
High temperatures will warm a few to around 5 degrees into the
weekend with high temperatures within a few degrees of average to
around 5 degrees above average. High temperatures will then cool
about 5 degrees through the middle part of next week with high
temperatures on Thursday around average to around 5 degrees below
average for the valleys. The marine layer lowers some this
weekend, but lifts again early next week, with night and morning
coastal low clouds spreading into the western valleys, clearing by
the mid-late mornings.

This weekend (Today through Sunday)...

500mb height peaks Saturday into Sunday as the modest upper level
ridge passes overhead. Heights gradually fall Sunday into Monday as
a trough slowly approaches. Under the influence of this ridge,
temperatures continue trickle up into Saturday, about 5 degrees
warmer than today. Highs reach the mid to upper 70s for the coasts,
the upper 80s to low 90s for the San Diego County Valleys, mid 90s
for the Inland Empire, and uper 90s to near 110 in the deserts.
Similar high temperatures follow for Sunday, alebit a touch cooler
with heights falling some. The marine layer lowers a bit more than
the past few mornings for Saturday and Sunday, which could bring
some patchy fog to inland higher terrain each morning.

Next week (Monday through Friday)...

A very slow-moving trough meanders its way closer to the California
coast early next week. The troughs become more defined as a cut-off
low by Tuesday, and despite this, fairly consistent agreement
between ensembles and clusters prog this feature to eventually move
inland over California Wednesday into Thursday. While Monday will be
a touch cooler than Sunday, this pattern of a very slowly advancing
cut-off low favors fairly stagnant weather, with similar
temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday. The marine layer gradually
deepens as the upper level low approaches, with futher inland extent
on Monday/Tuesday compared to this weekend.

Models begin to diverage by Thursday, with the European ensemble
mean keeping troughing over the West Coast while the GEFS is more
progressive and returns us to a quasi-zonal state.

262100....Coast/Valleys...Patchy low clouds linger at the beaches
this afternoon. Otherwise, VFR conditions region-wide.

Low clouds based 600-1000ft MSL likely to push ashore tonight after
02-04z Sat, with slightly less inland coverage and more widespread
VIS reductions, some areas below 1 mile between 09-14z, especially
coastal mesas, western inland valleys and inland Orange County.
Clearing 15-18z Sat morning.

.Mountains/Deserts...Clear skies with unrestricted VIS through
Saturday afternoon. Brief gusts up to 30-40 mph possible across the
deserts and mountain passes this afternoon and early evening with
weaker winds tonight into Saturday morning.
