.KEY MESSAGES...

1. High temperatures will be a little cooler today but still a
few degrees above average for this time of the year. Little
changes are expected through the rest of the holiday weekend.

2. Strong northeast winds are forecast in eastern Kern County
on Monday. There is a 62 percent probability for wind gusts of
50 mph or higher at Mojave.

3. Freezing temperatures will remain possible each night across
mainly rural areas in the southern San Joaquin Valley. There is
up to a 75 percent probability for low temperatures of 32 degrees
or lower across western Kern County.

.DISCUSSION...Satellite loops shows mostly clear skies
prevailing with just a few high clouds passing through. The
pattern is dominated by a longwave trough across the lower 48
and Rex Block off the west coast with an upper low under an
upper ridge. Temperatures will be a little cooler today but will
still top out a few degrees above climatological averages for
this time of the year. Little changes are expected through the
rest of the holiday weekend.

A short wave is progged to drop south over the Great Basin on
Sunday night and move over the lower Colorado River Valley on
Monday. An offshore flow will result with strong northeasterly
winds developing in eastern Kern County on Monday. There is a
62 percent probability for wind gusts of 50 mph or higher at
Mojave.

Freezing temperatures will remain possible each night across
mainly rural areas in the southern San Joaquin Valley. There
is up to a 75 percent probability for low temperatures of 32
degrees or lower across western Kern County.

.AVIATION...18Z Update:

In the San Joaquin Valley, areas of MVFR visibility in mist and
haze. Local IFR in mist until 21Z Sat and after 06Z Sun and
local LIFR in fog until 19Z Sat and after 12Z Sun.

VFR conditions will prevail elsewhere across the area for the
next 24 hours.

Fireplace/Wood Stove Burning Status is: No Burning Unless
Registered in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, and Tulare
