Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
950 AM PDT Sun Jun 29 2025

.KEY MESSAGES...

* Slow warming trend continues into early next week. Hottest
  temperatures will be on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures cool to
  near normal by midweek.

* Increasing moisture will bring a slight chance for thunderstorm
  activity next week, mainly for Mohave County, with much of the
  rest of the area remaining dry.

&&

.DISCUSSION...through the end of next week.

Typical summer heat will prevail through early next week as high
pressure builds across the area. With heights slowly rising,
temperatures will gradually climb each day, rising 3-7 degrees
above normal by Monday and Tuesday. Despite being warmer than
the daily averages, it`s still pretty typical heat for late June
and heat risk largely remains in the moderate category. A few
pockets of major heat risk develop in parts of Mohave County and
the Colorado River Monday and Tuesday, but remain too brief and
spotty in nature to justify any heat products. As moisture pushes
into Arizona midweek and heights begin to fall as a low pressure
system offshore approaches, temperatures will moderate Tuesday
onward and return to near normal values.

Meanwhile, as the Four Corners high orients itself in a more
favored location for moisture advection, along with a weak low
over southern California strengthening the southerly flow, expect
increasing thunderstorm activity across Northwest Arizona Tuesday
onward. A fairly sharp contrast to drier conditions are expected
further west thanks to a slight southwesterly component of the
flow advecting drier air into the region, but storm chances look
to spread into the eastern Mojave Desert and perhaps Lincoln
County Wednesday and Thursday. Main concerns will be the potential
for some dry lightning initially, followed by more typical summer
like downpours and gusty winds midweek onward.

&&

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Winds
will gradually veer around to the southwest through the morning
hours. By early-to-mid afternoon winds will have settled in from
the southwest with sustained winds approaching 10 knots and
occasional 15 to 20 knot wind gusts. These breezy southwesterly
winds will continue into the evening hours with speeds decreasing
later tonight while winds continue to maintain a southwesterly
direction through early Monday morning. Temperatures will exceed
100F between 19z and 04z, with a peak around 106F. VFR conditions
and clear skies will prevail through the TAF period.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...With the exception of
the western Mojave Desert, where winds will favor a westerly
direction through the TAF period, southerly breezes are expected
across the region through the afternoon and into the evening
hours. Sustained speeds will be in the 8 to 12 knot range across
the area with wind gusts around 15 to 25 knots. Winds will
decrease overnight with winds shifting to their typical nocturnal
directions. VFR conditions and clear skies will prevail through
the TAF period.

&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
