.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 202 AM CST Sat Feb 22 2025
While considerably warmer conditions are ongoing across the state
early this Sat morning compared to previous days...temps still
remain just below normal for late Feb. Mostly calm and dry
conditions are ongoing...which will continue into this afternoon.
However...moisture lifting north over ERN TX into NRN LA may move
into SRN/SERN sections of the state this morning. While dry air near
the SFC should keep things mostly dry...there may be just enough
precip to see some arrive at the SFC for SRN/SERN sections. Temps
are hovering around or just below freezing...and vertical profiles
suggest maybe some flurries or light sleet if precip makes it to the
ground. This precip should be limited enough to see little to no
impacts this morning.
Beyond this morning...expect dry conditions for most areas the rest
of this Sat. The warming trend started on Fri will continue this
Sat...with highs back in the 40s for most areas. Some low 50s could
also be seen across SRN sections. An upper shortwave will pass south
of AR on Sun...with some precip chances increasing south of AR.
Looks like most moisture will remain south of the state...but there
could be some precip in the far SRN counties. When this may
happen...temps will be well above freezing to see maybe just some
light rain. Expect highs in the 50s on Sunday.
The warming trend will continue into the middle of the upcoming week
as SRLY winds will become common. Forecast highs are expected to
peak in the 60s and 70s by Wed. Lows will also warm...into the 30s
by Mon morning...and into the 40s by the middle of next week. Dry
conditions will continue through Tue...but a new front will move
into the region for Wed into Thu...with some increased chances for
rainfall Wed/Wed night. Temps will also remain well above freezing
this time around to see all liquid. Temps will then drop back closer
to normal for later in the week behind this new front...with highs
back into the 50s and 60s.
