.UPDATE...Updated 12Z Aviation Discussion.
&&
.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will gradually build over the region today into
Friday, but expect one more day of chilly temperatures.
Temperatures will continue to climb Friday into the weekend with
readings easily topping 70 degrees on Saturday and near 80 degrees
on Sunday. Even warmer conditions are anticipated for early next
week with highs into the lower 80s, or 10 to 15 degrees above
normal for this time of year. Dry conditions are expected to
prevail well into next week with periods of high level clouds.
&&
.DISCUSSION...
The upper level low continues to push eastward out of the region
with clear skies now across the bulk of the lower deserts. Some
lingering lower level clouds can be expected across eastern
Arizona higher terrain areas this morning, but by this afternoon
clear skies should prevail areawide. The cold air mass remains in
place and many lower desert locations this morning are expected
to dip into the mid to upper 30s. Upper level ridging will
gradually begin to shift into our region from the northwest by
this afternoon, but it won`t help temperatures much as highs will
still only top out in the mid to upper 60s across the western
deserts to the lower 60s in the Phoenix area.
As upper level ridging takes hold over the entire region starting
Friday, we will start to see some decent warming and this should
push daytime highs back to near normal. H5 heights will continue
to rise into the weekend, peaking at around 582dm late Saturday
into Sunday. These higher heights will continue to boost
temperatures as we see highs between 70-75 degrees by Saturday
and into the upper 70s to maybe the lower 80s on Sunday. At the
same time, a rather robust AR will reach the northern half of
California tracking into northern portions of the Great Basin. The
ridge over our region will keep the bulk of the moisture to our
north this weekend, but we can expect to see some upper level
moisture and mainly thin higher clouds at times.
For at least the first half of next week, our weather will
continue to be dominated by the upper level ridge centered to our
south. Temperatures are forecast to peak on Monday and/or Tuesday
with highs expected to reach into the lower 80s, but not much
cooling is expected mid week as the ridge to our south is likely
to continue to be the dominant weather feature for our region.
Ensemble guidance mainly shows the upper level trough positioned
to our northwest during the first half of next week to weaken and
then slide past well to our north. This will flatten the ridge
out over our region and drop highs back into the mid to upper 70s
by around next Wednesday, but there are no signs any significant
cooling or precipitation chances through the rest of next week.

.FIRE WEATHER...
High pressure will gradually move over the region into Friday with
conditions beginning to dry and warming back to near normal on
Friday. Much warmer temperatures and additional drying will take
place over the weekend as lower desert highs reach near 80 degrees
by Sunday. Expect MinRHs mainly above 30% today, but then falling
into the teens starting over the weekend. Expect overall light
winds through the period. The well above normal temperatures and
dry conditions are likely to persist through at least the first
half of next week.
