.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Saturday)
Issued at 236 AM CDT FRI MAY 30 2025
This AM, satellite is indicating ample cloud cover at varied levels.
There are low stratus clouds scattered about with the greatest
concentration across the N and E sections of C AL. Along with this
stratus, some patchy fog may occur across portions of C AL, with the
greatest concentration across the ERN 1/3 of the CWA. In addition to
increased low level moisture, there is also some mid/upper moisture
moving in from the W around the base of the digging upper trough
over the Great Lakes. This trough will swing across E Conus today
and into New England tonight before being absorbed back into the
main low over Quebec. This flow will finally help to usher a surface
front through the NW portions of C AL this morning and the SE
sections this afternoon. We should have enough forcing with daytime
heating for a few strong to severe t-storms to pop up along/ahead of
the front this afternoon across the SE 1/2 of C AL. The main threats
will be damaging straight-line winds and possibly some large hail.
By this evening, the front will have exited to our SE leaving drier
and cooler air in its wake. Look for overnight lows some 6-10
degrees lower for tonight than this morning. Cloudiness will
decrease this evening from NW-SE becoming clear areawide after
midnight and mostly sunny during the day on Saturday. With more
sunshine expected on Saturday and no rain, temperatures will be able
to warm up a couple of degrees warmer than today, but dew points
should not be quite as high as today.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through next Thursday)
Issued at 236 AM CDT FRI MAY 30 2025
A quick moving shortwave will pass across the area on Sunday
resulting in an increase in cloud cover and perhaps some isolated to
scattered showers across northern parts of the area. Following the
shortwave will be a broad mid-level ridge which will foster several
days of warm and summertime weather as it shifts across the eastern
CONUS and then establishes along the Eastern Seaboard by
Wednesday. Temperatures will gradually trend warmer each day with
highs back into the upper 80s to lower 90s by midweek. A front
will move towards the area on Thursday, but may struggle to push
into the area as the ridge remains extended across the Southeast.
Nonetheless, the front may provide increased rain chances on
Thursday, especially across the west and northwest.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 613 AM CDT FRI MAY 30 2025
Low stratus and areas of fog will continue during the early
morning hours. The fog should not last very long after sunrise,
being less dense after 13z and should only be in convection after
14z/15z. MVFR-LIFR cigs are present. Cigs will take longer to go
VFR thanks to increased moisture along and ahead of the front
including some light to moderate SHRA that may occur. A few TSRAs
may occur as well. Only confident enough to mention a TSRA TEMPO
at KASN/KMGM at times 15-18/18-21z respectively as the system
pushes SE. Light/variable winds overnight will become WRLY this
morning with system and NWRLY this afternoon behind it.
Note: AMD NOT SKED at KMGM due to comms issues.

&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
A cold front will move through the area today producing more
showers and storms. Winds will shift to the northwest behind the
front. Drier conditions return this weekend with min RH ranging
from 45 to 50% on Saturday and Sunday. Soils will remain saturated
for a few days, and there are no fire weather concerns at this
time.
