...New UPDATE, MARINE...
.UPDATE...
Issued at 952 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Late-morning satellite and surface analysis shows a large Eastern
US upper trough whose base is entering the SE US with an
attendant front draped across the Wiregrass. These features will
be the focus for renewed (albeit isolated) showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon primarily over the Eastern FL Big
Bend.
The environment will be somewhat favorable for localized robust
thunderstorms via strong-to-damaging gusts and/or small-to- medium
size hail. Point soundings invof of Perry, FL via the 12Z HRRR
shows deep-layer shear in excess of 50 kts, around 1000 J/kg of
afternoon CAPE developing, DCAPE near 700 J/kg, and fairly steep
low-to-mid-level lapse rates. However, peak Precipitable Water
values up to about 1" should limit convective coverage.
Looking back at the 12Z HRRR, convection looks to initiate after
2PM EDT around Jefferson-Taylor-Madison County, FL, then gradually
drift into the Suwannee Valley through the remainder of the
afternoon, before exiting to our east around sunset.

.NEAR TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 338 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Lingering showers and thunderstorms across SE Alabama and SW
Georgia will continue to diminish early this morning and should
completely dissipate by sunrise. The associated frontal boundary
will continue pushing south across the region through the day
today as a strong upper trough digs into the southeastern states.
With afternoon heating, there should be just enough instability
and lift along the front for some redevelopment along the front in
the SE Big Bend. With relatively steep mid-level lapse rates and
strong deep layer shear, a few of the storms could be strong to
severe, supporting the marginal risk of severe storms from SPC.
Elsewhere across the forecast area, conditions will be dry with
increasing northwest winds this afternoon in the wake of the
front. Expect highs in the upper 70s to around 80 this afternoon.
&&
.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday through Sunday night)
Issued at 338 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
High pressure will build into the region in the wake of today`s
cold front. Lows on Saturday morning will drop into the upper 40s
to lower 50s, with lower to mid 70s area-wide for Saturday
afternoon. The coolest morning will be Sunday morning, with 40s
expected across the area.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Thursday)
Issued at 338 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
A relatively quiet period appears to be on tap for much of next
week. A rather weak shortwave trough will make a glancing pass
near the area during the mid-week, but rain chances appear very
limited. Another system may approach by late next week with the
next chance of rain. Temperatures will be near or a bit above
normal, with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s and 80s.
&&
.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 613 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
VFR conditions are expected for the remainder of the forecast
period with west-northwest winds developing this morning behind a
cold front, gusting to around 25 knots, before subsiding around
sunset.
&&
.MARINE...
Issued at 952 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
The West Tampa Buoy (42036) was reporting a sustained NE wind
around 8 kts with 3-4-ft seas, and a dominant period of 5 seconds
late this morning. A Small Craft Advisory goes into effect for all
nearshore & offshore legs later this afternoon in response to
breezy post-frontal NW winds.
CWF Synopsis: A cold front will pass the waters today, followed
by strong northwesterly breezes on tonight. Winds will quickly
decrease starting late Saturday, and a high pressure center will
move directly across the northeast Gulf on Sunday afternoon. The
next cold front will cross the waters on Tuesday. &&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 338 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
A cold front will cross the region today. Scattered showers and
thunderstorms early this morning across SE Alabama and SW Georgia
will diminish before redeveloping this afternoon across the far
SE Big Bend. Otherwise low humidity values and high dispersions
are expected over the next several days. However, conditions
are not expected to meet Red Flag criteria.
&&
.HYDROLOGY...
Issued at 338 AM EDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Minor flooding continues along the Apalachicola River at
Blountstown as water continues to be released from the
Chattahoochee and Lake Seminole. Water continues to travel down
the Kinchafoonee, Flint, Ochlockonee and Aucilla, but only action
stage levels are anticipated on these basins.
Rainfall from Thursday night and today will be rather light and
scattered. Thus, no new hydrologic concerns are anticipated.
