...New NEAR TERM...
.NEAR TERM...
(Rest of Today)
Issued at 736 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
Dense valley fog persists in northeast AL into Franklin County
TN, including the Paint Rock, Tennessee and Sand/Big Wills
Valleys. We will allow the Dense Fog Advisory to expire since the
fog is not widespread. A cumulus field will expand quickly this
afternoon with peak heating, and showers and thunderstorms will
develop this afternoon as another vort lobe/cold pocket aloft
arrives. Pea sized hail will be possible given steepening lapse
rates and cold air aloft. High temperatures should climb into the
lower to middle 60s.

.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight through Sunday)
Issued at 922 PM CDT Thu Apr 10 2025
The longwave trough prompting severe weather on Thursday and rain
and storm chances on Friday will finally push off the Atlantic
coast throughout the day on Saturday. Despite this, we will remain
well within NW flow as midlevel ridging builds to our SW and
surface high pressure builds over the Mid Mississippi Valley.
Ultimately this will amount to a rather cool day on Saturday as
continual NW flow brings in a modified airmass from the Pacific
Northwest. LREF probabilities continue to be pessimistic about
making it out of the 50s on Saturday afternoon even with abundant
sunshine. Thus, current forecast high temps may be slightly too
high, we will continue to assess this with additional forecast
updates.
The good news is, despite a cool start to the weekend, we will
quickly rebound into the 70s on Sunday as surface high pressure
translates directly over us. With clear skies and light winds,
this will make for a truly beautiful spring afternoon.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Thursday)
Issued at 922 PM CDT Thu Apr 10 2025
Surface high pressure will begin to push east Sunday night as a
mid level low develops in the northern Plains. The low pressure
is forecast to move through the Great Lakes Region on Monday.
The low will be a little too far away to trigger any significant
weather locally thus very low rain chances have been maintained
with the frontal passage associated with the low pressure. An
uptick in winds and clouds will likely be the main indicator of
the frontal passage. Ahead of the front, highs look to push into
the low 80s.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see milder conditions as we again take
on post frontal NW flow. Temps will remain in the high 60s with
gusty winds still possible Tuesday afternoon as the pressure
gradient behind the front remain tight. Our next bout of
interesting weather looks to arrive mid day Thursday with a slight
uptick in rain chances as a surface low pressure system looks to
move across the TN Valley. While its a little early to nail down
specifics, there are no strong indicators in the models for severe
weather at this time.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 552 AM CDT Fri Apr 11 2025
VFR conditions will persist through the TAF period barring any
showers/thunderstorms that develop over the terminals this
afternoon. The best timing for this will come between 19-22z when
MVFR conditions are possible during heavier showers. Breezy NW to
N flow will pick up this afternoon when gusts up to 20kts are
possible at times. Winds should begin to subside later this
evening.
