.Updated AVIATION Discussion...

.AVIATION...04/18Z TAFs...VFR conditions prevail for most areas this
morning. The exception being over the marine waters north of Cape
Blanco and inland to around Roseburg where MVFR ceilings are
gradually lifting. These ceilings will linger into the afternoon,
though becoming VFR over the next few hours. Afterwards, VFR
conditions are expected through this evening with gusty north to
northwest winds developing again this afternoon.
The marine layer is likely to return to coastal areas north of Cape
Blanco this evening and overnight as another shortwave sends a
marine push inland. Stratus is likely to spread into the Umpqua
Basin and may even "spill over" into portions of the Rogue/Illinois
Valleys late tonight/early Thursday morning. Overall conditions
should remain MVFR with this marine push, with the extent of cloud
cover being scattered south of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide. /BR-y

.PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 831 AM PDT Wed Jun 4 2025/
DISCUSSION...Satellite image shows lower clouds from Cape Blanco
north and into portions of Coos and northwest Douglas county. A
sliver of marine stratus is also in central Douglas County,
including at Roseburg. The marine stratus inland will gradually
burn off during the morning with clear skies late this morning
into this afternoon. Elsewhere skies are clear and will remain
that way through this evening. Other than adding some detail to
the sky cover for today, the forecast is on track.
The main thing we`ll be looking at is the hot temperatures for
this weekend into the start of next week and thunderstorm
potential Sunday, Monday and Tuesday afternoon and early evening.
-Petrucelli
MARINE...Updated 830 AM Wednesday, June 4, 2025...With high
pressure offshore and a thermal trough near shore, strong north
winds and very steep wind driven seas will continue through
Thursday night from Cape Blanco southward. Gale force winds will
be possible south of Gold Beach between 5 and 40 nm offshore, and
the most likely timeframe would be into Thursday
afternoon/evening. Meanwhile, steep seas will continue north of
Cape Blanco. Other than a brief decrease during Saturday, moderate
to strong north winds and steep to very steep wind-driven seas
are likely into next week.
